Today I'm excited to share that our Living Stones Sanctuary Expansion has received a matching grant of $150,000 from the Stuller Family Foundation! I first mentioned this a few weeks ago after we received notice of the award. Then last Friday it was a joy to attend a breakfast award ceremony, together with Teri Cober, our Treasurer who took the lead on this application. Of course, we haven't received an actual check from the Stuller Family Foundation yet, because we still have to match the grant. So from now through the fall, we will make an effort to raise an additional $150,000, on top of our initial gifts and pledges to the Living Stones Campaign. Donations can be made here. With the matching grant, this will bring our campaign total to $1,700,000.
Needless to say, such a large amount points to your remarkable generosity, and I hasten to thank each of you for your faith in God and your commitment to our church. Your sacrificial gifts are laying a foundation for the next generation of disciples in this place.
And by God's grace, that next generation is already arriving at Trinity! I was amazed to see, on a recent Sunday, that the entire north side of the church was filled with families, children, and young people in their 20s and 30s. It has been a joy to welcome this next generation, to see so many new members and confirmations, to bless marriages and perform baptisms, all as we proclaim the gospel and share the love of Christ.
So let us continue to pray, to thank the Lord and to praise him, and to ask his grace, protection, and favor. We are living stones, and he is building us up as his spiritual house.
Living Stones Update #7 For the sake of clarity and accountability, the Vestry made the decision to create a distinct set of financials for our Living Stones Sanctuary Expansion. This will be produced quarterly, so that the whole congregation can follow the financial trajectory of the project.
