A Call for the Jeffreys to Houston

Greetings, saints of Trinity -

Today I write to share the news that the Jeffreys have accepted a call to new positions in the Houston area. Aaron will serve as Sub-Dean of the Diocesan Cathedral and Provost of the Diocesan School of Ministry, and Amy will serve in Communications on the Bishop’s staff.

We are grateful for the Jeffreys’ faithful service since 2021, and we will grieve their departure. In the midst of any transition, we are reminded to turn to Christ as our Lord, Savior, Pastor, and Friend. Jesus both comforts us and teaches us in his ways, that we may have rest in him. “Come to me, all you who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls” (Matthew 11:28-29).

As much as we feel the loss, we should also be glad to commission the Jeffreys into these roles of significant service and leadership. One aspect of a church’s fruitfulness is joyfully and open-handedly sending laborers into the harvest of souls. The church of Antioch, for example, must have been grieved when Paul and Barnabas felt a call away after only one year amongst them. But “after fasting and praying they laid their hands on them and sent them off” (Acts 13:3). The result was the launch of Paul’s missionary career, the dramatic expansion of the Gentile church which Paul first experienced in Antioch, and consequently the salvation of many souls.

So let us pray for the Jeffreys, that the Lord give them great favor and fruitfulness in their next season of ministry. And let us enjoy our last month with them, concluding with a commissioning service and potluck on September 24.

Yours in Christ -
Peter
