Lent & Trinity 101

Greetings Trinitarians!

Welcome to Lent! Today marks the beginning of Lent, a forty-day season of spiritual discipline before the celebration of Easter. Tonight we begin the season with an Ash Wednesday service at 6PM.

The traditional practices of the season are prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. We do these not to earn the grace of God, but rather in thankful response to God's grace in Jesus Christ. Properly pursued, these practices deepen our intimacy with God and prepare our hearts for the joy of Easter. If you'd like to read more about the history, theology, and practices of Lent, I have a new article on the topic at CREDO magazine, which you can read here.

For those who are new or not yet members, we will be offering Trinity 101 over the next five Sundays in Lent, from 11:45 - 1:00. Get lunch after the service, and then come back to the sanctuary at 11:45. This is a required step in our membership process, and a great way to meet people and learn more about Trinity.

May God bless you as you keep a holy Lent!

In Christ -
Peter
