Greetings, saints of Trinity!
Our fall Sunday School begins this Sunday @ 9AM. There will be classes for both adults and kids, with adults in the Sanctuary and kids in the Family Center.
The topic for this fall is the 10 Commandments, which we will consider over the course of 10 weeks. In one sense, the 10 Commandments are simple, offering basic rules for loving God and neighbor. But once we think about applying them, about truly keeping them in our hearts and living them in our lives, then there is both excitement and wonder at the kind of people God is making us in Christ. We cannot keep God's law on our own, but in Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, God uses his law to give us abundant life.
As an additional resource, we've created a Family Prayer booklet for the study of the 10 Commandments. It contains a short liturgy together with catechism questions. I'll make use of this booklet in our class, and it is also a great tool to use at home. Copies will be available for free at the church.
Finally, for our Trinity Presbyterian folks, I wanted to mention that Jack Rankin passed away this week and now rests in the Lord. I will preside at his funeral service this Saturday, 11AM, at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home. You are welcome to join in person or in prayer.
